We use Western Red horizontal cedar picket fence boards in this custom wood fence placed horizontally spaced 2 inches apart and to the desired height. We then repeat the process with horizontal fence pickets on the back side. This fence should not considerd if privacy is your goal. Although this horizontal fence may be nice to look at it does not provide full privacy. The Austin Fence Company unlike other Austin fence companies protects all of our horizontal fences with a Behr weatherproofer, watersealer, and a natural cedar stain or a Thompsons product. This style of wood fence installation in Austin TX is very popular.
Cap and Trim Cedar Privacy Fence: The Austin Fence Company installs our Cap and Trim cedar picket Fences with Western Red Cedar Pickets. Our Cap and Trim Cedar Picket Fences are installed in a similar fashion as our privacy fences. We also attach a Western Red Cedar Cap that rests above the horizontal fence trim bord.Cap and Trim Cedar Privacy Fences can be installed on either 4x4 wood posts or 2 3/8" steel poles. The Austin Fence Company applies a coat of Behr weatherproofer, watersealer, and natural cedar stain on all new installs of our Cap and Trim Cedar Picket Fences. This is something that most fence installers in Austin Texas don't do.
California Shadow Box Cedar Privacy Fence: The Austin Fence Company installs our California Shadow Box Cedar Privacy Fence with Western Red Cedar wood fencing Pickets. This type of fence is installed in a similar way as our Cap and Trim fence. California Shadow Box Fences are considered a full privacy wood fencing. The only real differance between our California Shadow Box Fence and our Cap and horizontal fence trim Fence is a 1"x 2" strip of Western Red Cedar attached over the space between the cedar pickets. This style of fence is great for added privacy. The Austin Fence Company protects all of our wood fencing with a Behr weatherproofer, watersealer, and natural cedar stain or a Thompsons product.

This style of wood fence is a popular choice for homeowners who live next to a green belt. This style of fence is a favorite style for our wood fence builders in Austin to build. This is not the only way a bull panel fence can be installed. The least expensive way fence companies in Austin build this style of fence is with a 2x4 frame and a 2x4 cap. The Austin Fence Company did a great job…
The Austin Fence Company did a great job on our iron and wood fences. My wife is happy so I am happy. Great job Joey

I live off of Manchaca in S. Austin and I found a flier on my door a few weeks back. I had fences, but they were old hurricane-fences and I was sick of staring at them. I called the number on the flier and they were out there within two hours to do a free evaluation. The guy who came out was polite and professional and I ended picking iron and wood fencing. They started work 4 days after I contracted them and the work was done quickly and well.
I'm really pleased with how much better these look than what I had and would encourage anybody else to go with these guys. I had a great experience, and got a great product.

Joey and his crew did an excellent job with my new electric gate. They even threw in a few extras, and re-painted the gate after it got scratched in transit. I would definitely recommend them to anyone interested in a quality gate at a fair price.
Summary: Quick and efficient, I hardly saw the guys they were done so quickly!
Review: The Austin Fence Company did a great job, and beat everybody else's quotes. Joe came out to do the estimate for us. We had quite a bit of fence for them to do. We added fence around our swimming pool as well as a privacy fence. It was about 300 feet of fence total.
They did a great job and were very fast, it took them about two and a half days for them to complete the entire job. They were good about cleaning up too and there was no chunks of concrete lying around after they were done. I hardly saw the guys, they worked so fast!
About an hour before they were done, they gave me a call to let me know so I could come have a walk around with them. They wanted to make sure I was completely satisfied. I was very happy, they didn't have to change anything. I shouldn't have to use them anytime soon, but I would definitely use them again if I ever win the lottery and move to another house and need fencing!
Summary: Really awesome and professional.
Review: I needed a privacy fence installed, and I called several companies for quotes. I hired The Austin Fence Company in the end, because Joey had a great personality, and I could tell he knew his trade very well. Not only that, but he had the best price.
When Joey was here to give the quote, he went through all of my options, and explained every aspect of the job in detail. Once I committed, they started a few days later, and were done with the work very quickly. The overall experience was very easy for me--they took care of everything.
Austin Fence are really professional, and stick to their schedule well. They know what they're talking about, too. I had a positive experience with them.
Austin Fence Company did a great job. They were the best price (I checked around) and the service was very professional. I would recommended them.

Really great experience! Joey was very professional and informative. They did everything they said they would do on time and with a great result. They tore the old one down in one day and put up the new one the next day. They cleaned up some and came back the next day to finish up. We had to wait a long time to get a new fence and they gave us the best bid out of 6 bids. We are truly pleased with the whole experience. Thank you Austin Fence Co.!
Summary: Great company, loved their work! Not one complaint.
Review: The Austin Fence company did a big job for us on our place. Their work ethic is exceptional. They finished the job on time, on budget, and cleaned the place up afterwards. They did everything we asked of them. Super responsible about keeping our pets contained while the project was being done. I have already recommended them to friends and family.

I needed a new fence, as the original one was falling apart. I called a few contractors for competitive bids, among them was Joey of the Austin Fence Company. I wasn't sure what I wanted, and Joey came prepared with some sample pictures and an outstanding knowledge of his trade. Once I decided on how I wanted it to look, he measured the area and gave me a quote within a few minutes. His price was very reasonable, and the work thereafter was outstanding. The cedar wood was high quality, and the workmanship was just great. They were on time and professional. I highly recommend them.

I also recommend Joey and his crew. They answered all of my questions and worked until 9p one night to fix our fence because my dog and our bunny had been getting out. They knew I had some concern about fixing it quickly because of escaping animals. They were also out the next morning finishing up on time, and our quote was exactly the same price and they even threw in a new handle/hardware for the gate.

I had Joey and his guys come out and replace our 50 year old fence. These guys were great. Joey (the owner) was extremely professional and timely. His quote was exactly what we were looking for and, better yet, the final price was exactly the same as his quote. I've got a pretty hectic work schedule and he was able to not only get the job done without my full oversight but have it done a full day sooner than we thought! He had me come out and check over the final product before they packed up and left; therefore, eliminating a possible callback problem.
We are extremely happy with the fence but more importantly with the entire process and way these guys do business.
I highly recommend them.
Summary: Great Company
Review: I needed to have a new fence built, and called a few contractors. Joey at Austin Fence Co was the one I went with. They were priced well and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend them.
I've known Joey for long time and had seem the beautiful jobs he has done.So naturally I called him and his crew when I wanted to update and repair my fence. They had not only the best prices, but they did a superb job. Another thing that was important to me was how efficient and clean the were. I have a large dog that likes to escape and eat things! I would for sure recommend them to others as well as use them again
What to know when buying a fence
You should find out what grade of wood is going to be used on your fence.
You should know who you are contracting to build your fence for you. One good way of finding out about fence contractors is by looking them up online. They should have a great reputation online. That means they should have plenty of 5 star ratings on the review sites.
Next you should set up an appointment for the fence contractor to come out to take measurements of your fence project and discuss your options. You should find out about the types, grades, and quality of the fence materials the fence company uses. The next thing you should find out is how they do their building process. Any fence contractor who knows what they are talking about should be able to tell you how they will build your fence from start to finish, and this includes what materials they will be using.

When you need a permit to build your fence
Per Austin's building code any privacy fence over 6' tall is required to have a building permit. The regulation states that if the fence is over 50% see through it does not require a permit for building. That is why many people add a privacy feature such as lattice above the 6' mark of their fence. Also Iron and Chain Link Fences are not required to have a permit despite height. This permit regulation is required for fences along property lines, however if a fence is located within 10 of your property line you can go up to 8' Privacy without a permit. For further information on permitting please visit http://www.cityofaustin.org or visit One Texas Center, 2nd Floor 505 Barton Springs Road Austin TX, 78704 .
